Meet Christiane

My paintings are visual poetry emerged from life and my personal experiences.

What drives me as an artist is the moving in and the exploration of the field of tension between the world we live in and that of our deep longing.

My art is an expression of what I experience as I move through the rawness of life to the other side of the pain, to wholeness, space and silence.

Born in Berlin in 1957, I experienced the closing of the wall as a four-year-old. That made a deep impression on me. I never saw my nieces and grandmother, who lived in East Berlin. Being creative and artistic was my answer to the Berlin dynamic.

Painting gives me the possibility to depict my dreams, experiences and outlook on life.
To train myself as an artist I took lessons from Dutch and international teachers. I like to work with transparent layers and lots of light and space.
